Jon-Cecil Walkes MD

Dr. Walkes is board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery and has been in practice since 2003.  Dr. Walkes attended Stanford University and graduated with honors in both Biology and Humanities. He then studied medicine 
at the University of California at 
Los Angeles (UCLA), again graduating
with honors and his doctorate degree.  After completing General Surgery at Baylor, he moved into the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Residency Program at The Baylor College of Medicine.  After completing training Dr. Walkes was recruited to join Dr. Michael E. DeBakey’s Cardiothoracic Surgery Team at The Methodist Hospital in Houston.  Dr. Walkes has a long history of clinical excellence and was previously the Director of the Valve Surgery Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center/School of Medicine at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Walkes is an expert in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Aortic Valve Surgery and Mitral Valve Surgery.  In addition he is extensively published in Cardiac Tumor Surgery and Thoracic Trauma.  The National Societies that he belongs to include: The Society of Thoracic Surgery, The Western Thoracic Surgical Association, The American College of Cardiology, The Michael E. DeBakey International Surgical Society, The American College of Chest Physicians and The American Heart Association.  He is nationally known for minimally invasive Heart Valve Surgery and, in fact, trains other surgeons and their teams in the area of Minimally Invasive Valve Surgery.

Dr. Walkes practices at Memorial Hermann Hospital-The Woodlands, CHI/St. Luke’s Hospital – The Woodlands, Conroe Regional Medical Center, Kingwood Medical Center, and St. Joseph Medical Center in downtown Houston.  He is the Director of the CV Surgery Program/Limb Salvage Program at St. Joseph Medical Center.
